We all love a contest and this one is definitely one we love as it means amazing exposure for our businesses.
The do's are share your links everywhere you visit. Social media especially. Tell your friends. Your customers. Send out newsletters, chat about your art and add a link to the contest
Do not forget, they can only vote 25 times, so they may go back and remove some of your votes later so they can try to vote for another person. Be prepared.
Do ONLY add printable quality images.
Those are the main do's
The do nots are pretty self explanatory
Do NOT message people on this site to share your links, that is spam as they have not signed up for them. You can lose your account is spamming people
Do NOT message group members if you're a group admin, to share your links. Use your discussions
Do not open threads in the main forum about the contest. There is a link below to share links here. Groups discussions are different.. Read on... You can chat about how you are sharing your entries etc, here, https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=7721351
Check with group admins before opening threads in the groups. Some admins may already have a group thread open for this.
IMPORTANT Please remember that votes are based on IPs. So only one vote per IP
Have fun
GOOD LUCK
Here is a chatting post to get ideas etc https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=7721351

Thanks for the clarification on the 25 votes, Abbie. I didn't see that in the contest description anywhere (maybe I missed it), but people got annoyed before when they didn't know about the limit.

Thanks Abbie!
You said do NOT post discussions about the contest... but then said that members should not to post discussions about this in groups but to check with admins.. I think I am needing some clarification
I like the voting limit.. I have started to do that in my contests .. it seems to help, IMHO

Luther Fine Art, I believe Abbie has said that we cannot open new threads in the GENERAL forum pages about our entries. However, if within groups an Admin chooses to let people post in a thread inside that group, that appears to be OK. I'm wondering if that is the case, if people can post the links to the vote page for their image in the contest or just post that they're IN the contest.
They will message you and tell you about it. That's what group admins should be doing... And hopefully telling people the main contest link and a link to this discussion
They should not be adding their own image links
1 Year Ago
I have put main in bold.
I meant don't start threads in the MAIN discussions
You can see if the admin is allowing them in their groups
Some admin have already started threads for this
Conni, I'm sure the admin who allow s this want you to share the actual links to vote

Can people that are not FAA members vote? They haven’t been able to sign in through FB to vote in regular contests for quite a while.

Susan, they always have... In any contest

When does voting start? I am a bit confused about how to promote it before the submission deadline is over.
Edit: Nevermind... I think I figured it out.
now I am off to share my links!
Good luck everyone!

Hi Abbie.
As a newbie here I feel like I'm missing something.
When we post our 3 images, I assume we get a link to them at that time, which we can share anywhere except on FFA. This voting 25 times has me a bit confused.
1- so if I share these links with my Twiiter following, family etc. Anyone who follows the link can vote 25 times, but only once per image. Is this correct?
2- If these people vote for other images or artists this negates the vote for you.Why would you want them voting against you?
3- As I understand it you need 100 votes to qualify?
Sorry if these seem like dumb questions.
Thank you.

Douglass. When you join the contest and add up to 3 of your images just click on each one and there is a link there to share on social media or elsewhere.
This has the rules and scroll down to see the other prizes.
https://fineartamerica.com/contests/billboard-contest-2022.html?tab=overview
1. Correct!
2. If you advertise any contest people can wander off to look at other artist’s work. The thing is you only have to get to 25 votes and you get a free T-shirt or hoodie etc.
3.The 100 vote threshold is to get accepted as a finalist and featured on FAA’s Instagram page.
If you get 250 votes you will get a free 24x36inch canvas of your choice.

Can people that are not FAA members vote? They haven’t been able to sign in through FB to vote in regular contests for quite a while.
Abbie, I am receiving comments that individuals who are not among the FAA members are not able to vote via FB. They push the link to sign-in via FB, it takes them to the voting section, but won't allow them to vote and bounces them back to the sign-in. Of note: was on their phones, in case that info is pertinent.
Just a heads up. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I totally missed the email for some reason. Appreciate your help! Kathy

Abbie,
I had my daughter try to go to several other artists images, just to be sure it wan't related to me, and same thing happened. She gets one of two things - Page Not Available, or the page opens, and she clicks to go thru FB and it opens the vote page, but when she attempts to vote, it goes back to the login or vote by FB page, never allowing the vote to count.
Hope that info will help figure out the issue. I don;t think people will know there is an issue unless they have someone who is not am FAA member that can try it out.

A friend of mine has reported two problems when trying to vote. Here's what she wrote me:
"I’ve been trying for 30 min to log in so I can vote for you. I forgot my password and they keep telling me they’ve sent it to my email but haven’t so I try to create a new account and they tell me one already exists at my email address so I keep going in circles and getting nowhere."
When I told her she could vote through Facebook she tried and wrote me this:
"I click on that and it changes colour but doesn’t go anywhere."
She was trying on her phone.

My friends on FB are trying to vote (they are not in my household or IP address) - it asked them to join FAA to vote? Some did and still could not vote. This was earlier today. I thought people could vote though Facebook?

Clyde, these were the winners last year. There are a variety of shapes. They design the boards around the image.

Abbie, any word on a fix for the problem people are having trying to vote through Facebook?
Abbie, I'm receiving reports from my FB friends that they are being prompted to login to FAA before they can vote. This is on computers, not phones. Is there any kind of work-around for this? Thank you.
Facebook was checked and appears to be working. We are still trying to find the cause of these people saying it's not. Any extra info would be helpful please... Error messages for example
They have to register, not just sign in if not already a member i would have thought
You have to set up an account to vote. That's how it is
1 Year Ago
Abbie, I suspect my friend's problem with signing in on Facebook is probably because she had a password from voting years ago and lost it but she can't create a new account unless she gives a new email address. Whatever...it's only one vote.

Abbie, I’m being told the “log in with Facebook “ link is broken. Someone else told me “it says I already voted when I hadn’t/first time” I’ve deduced that the problem only seems to those whom try to use the Facebook links. Hope this helps - also figured out friends/family can’t vote for you if they’re on the same WiFi. Found this out at a dinner party last night. Thank you for bringing attention to this! I’ve seen several threads about it with no real answers.

I have shared my link on multiple forms of social media and I have received several messages from my followers saying that they can’t login with Facebook to vote. Everyone is trying to vote for Edith and they are not able to unless they have a account here on Fine Art America? Is there something that I can advise my followers to do so they can vote?
So everyone I know doesn’t want to make an account to vote. This is ridiculous that you have to!
Yes Amanda--I see that is a problem-----potential voters must register with FAA in order to vote-----this scares potential voters away because they do not want that extra step-----it explains why I have had multiple favorable responses in social media that have not resulted in votes...it may impede many from getting to the 100 vote finalist threshold.......it is what it is--I guess.........Best, Tim
1 Year Ago
No. It's not ridiculous
Yes you have to register to vote. This is not only an awesome prize for the winners, but it's also an advertising setup for the site. We sell prints. The contest brings buyers AND artists. It's what the site is for and, the more popular the site, the more eyes on YOUR work leading to more sales. Sales keep the site open. If the site closes, we ALL lose. Many sites and businesses are closing right now, or really struggling.... Advertising is important!
No, family often may not vote for your work if another member is on the same IP. Each vote is IP based. You can sometimes get around this if you really need to, by using a wi-fi connection for one person, and mobile data for the other. If all your family are on different plans...
This contest does have an amazing prize BUT more importantly, you're bringing people to view all the art, all your art, and this is a free advertising part to add to your marketing plan.
Purchases are no part of this contest.
If people hide their IP they can't join or vote
Thank you.

Indeed Tim. Many, almost all, of my Facebook contacts have voted but they don't come through. Very frustrating.

There are no issues with voting. Thousands are voting daily. All is working
I have given the reasons numerous times so please stop repeating the complaint

Is anyone having issues with people voting? People are logging in through Facebook, clicking vote and it’s asking to log in again? So they log in again and click vote again and it asks to log in again? Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask
1 Year Ago
hello, thanks for the info Abbie, and good luck everyone. I understand the point of this contest is also about getting people to the site and exposure for FAA.
However, the voting structure favors people with a lot of followers more than it does the work of the artist. So the people with a large following already are the ones more likely to win.
I don't have a lot of social media followers or even a big email list to reach out to and even though I know more than 100 people it's not like everyone I know will actually vote. This means the chances of getting anywhere close to the numbers needed are small.
SO it's not really a fair competition as it is about the number of followers you have rather than the work. you only have a chance if you have a lot (a lot) of followers already.
Any advice for people (with few friends or followers) to get people to vote for their art?
