Obviously I do not mean people who have taken courses and who are experts in searches and marketing, but for all you people here who open threads asking how to sell, you NEED to take this course. And it is FREE
We have so many new threads weekly, and sometimes even daily, on how to sell your work. As if we have a magic wand that we can wave over you when opening that thread which will automatically give you all the ideas you need. We have not. We cannot help you. You have to help yourself.
The best way of doing that, as Floyd and I have mentioned too many times to mention, you should take a marketing course.
Marketing is how to sell. Marketing is the WHOLE package. It takes into consideration your financial aspects, advertising, creating, networking.... Marketing is what you do to sell work. Uploading work is 1 small fraction of the work you need to put in.
"But I just want to create art!"
So stop saying you want to sell it.
Simple really.
There are VERY few people here among 700,000+ who sell regularly with no marketing, and you are not among them (nor am I) or you would not be asking.
Ok that was being exceptionally blunt but sometimes that has to be said.
So what CAN you do yourself to sell your work?.
One of the best ways is to learn how to be found. That does not necessarily mean how to get the work found funnily enough. It means how to get people to find you, to find your work
The best way on todays web is to be found by Google and the search engines and this course will help you on every aspect of that.

Thank you Abby, I bookmarked that loooong ago & never followed thru. Maybe this time :)
Seriously, it would REALLY be beneficial to Sean & sales if he shared search terms with us.

I hope this will be around for a while as it is something I could use but have no time for the next month or so.

My thought exactly, Val. Maybe after the 100 day challenge is finished? (Although I see James is putting us to shame by starting this weekend...) OK, maybe I'll find some time to start sooner. Thanks, Abbie!

I'm going through the course now, and I found a quote that is very relevant to the how long before I make a sale threads...
"The first thing to remember: don’t expect too much too soon. It can take a bit of time to set up your digital presence and get noticed online."

Thank you this looks really good. Feeling a bit disillusioned on the back of no sales. Lots of great positive feedback on the work, but hoping to break through into actual sales....

Thank you Abbie; I for one need this.
I try to leave keywords when I make comments on images. Do you think this helps them?

I'm curious why with all the promoting done thru FAA, RARELY when googling something like "Abstract Art" or "Watercolor Art" or any kind or wall art, does anything from FAA come up. FAA is almost non existent in random google searches unless one specifies FAA specifically.

Dear Abby
Thank you for all your informative emails and assistance.
Could you, or someone out there, perhaps assist with which settings are best to use on the Samsung S21+ cell phone, as I am getting " incorrect format" error messages when trying to upload my photos.
Many thanks

Lorraine go into your camera settings on your phone and check format The new phones save photos in HEIF ( or HEIC on iPhones) which are not recognised. Turn it off so it saves them as jpg files.
You can Google this to get more information about the new formats.
You would need to open your existing HEIF FILES in a photo editer to save them as jpg files.

I'm a little over half way through the course so far. The early information was quite helpful and I've re-written many of my 'about' sections on my various POD sites to make them simple yet relevant. The courses about local and mobile marketing aren't as useful to me because I don't have a brick and mortar shop nor have I had time to figure out a website design of my own. But the knowledge might be useful someday. I only have time to do an hour or so a week so it is going to take me a while to finish.

Thank you for this information. I am going to look into the course...definitely need it!
