Winter sunrise captured from the vantage point of West Jordan, Utah. The Wasatch Mountains extend from central Utah northward through the metropolitan areas of Provo, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and then up to the Utah-Idaho border. This mountain range is colloquially referred to as the "Wasatch Range," Wasatch Front," or simply "Wasatch." The mountains are rugged and almost always sport a fantastic sunrise as the sun elevates from the east over the peaks. This particular winter morning brought about a splendid array of color shining through the clouds, with the snow-covered mountains nearly glowing. The highest peak visible in this image is Lone Peak, at 11,253 feet (3,430 meters), and is the landmark found within the Lone Peak Wilderness Area.
