An array of flowers surround a woman set in a pose of thoughtful quietude. There is a sense of vintage nostalgia to the scene, a timelessness which takes us back to the days when the room in which the woman stands was not called a bedroom but a boudoir.
It even sounds more romantic – “boudoir.” Perhaps because it’s a French word, which always sound more romantic than their English counterparts. Perhaps because of the connotations of time associated with the term boudoir – Regency Romance days, the heyday of writer Georgette Heyer who popularized the time and the era.
The artwork, Thoughtful, invites us back to these days of romance and quiet and flowers and elegant furniture and the boudoir. I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color.
