This is an acrylic painting on wood illustrating the bible verse in Mark 4 describing the kingdom of God like a mustard seed. Jesus is seated with a child under the yellow-leafed branches of a tree showing her a tiny mustard seed. He says that we must receive the kingdom of God like a little child or we will not be able to enter it. I think it means to have absolute trust and wide-eyed wonder at the potential of life. Too often we judge or think we don’t deserve God’s blessings. Too often, we willingly let the miracles pass us by. Really, we just need to be open to receive…be willing to plant our own mustard seeds... and watch what God can do!
Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing. Visual language was her first language and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate for her. There was never a day she "decided" to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be. Jen Norton is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, with a Minor in Business. Jen worked as a Graphic Designer in the Silicon Valley where developing marketing communications materials helped push her from purely personal expression to full conversation.
