On April 23, 1947 a whole generation of the motor world was born, the Volkswagen Transporter van. It was born thanks to an idea by Ben Pon, after his visit to the Volkswagen factory.
The Dutch Ben Pon sat down with the British in 1947, since they were in command of the German brand after the Second World War, to discuss the importance of importing Volkswagen into the Netherlands. But that meeting served for something else, Ben Pon showed his notepad where the sketch of a transport vehicle was as if it were a shoe box, with a cabin in front and an engine behind.
What one day started with a sketch of the businessman Ben Pon, has become the story of a myth. Thus was born the most versatile commercial vehicle in the world, which has been transporting all imaginable merchandise for many years
