Description
The House That George Steinbrenner Wrecked, Opening Day 2001. The old original Yankee Stadium was not all that beautiful on the outside in 2001, what with the terribly designed modernistic entrances that were tapped on in the 70s. Still, it was a living museum. A museum of real stone a brick. Though the new stadium has an attractive appearance in homage to the 1921 original, it's still only a facsimile. A facsimile of plastic. I created this painting as a celebration of the once great institution while suffering a moment of Spring Fever in late December/early January 2012.
