This is my Best Seller online! I was experimenting a technique that illustrators were doing - making patterns of color as opposed to realistic backgrounds. I made the horse spotted because he is like the first horse we ever bought, and is still one of my favorites. Don Langeneckert’s career as an illustrator was spent in advertising for major companies, especially Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, Missouri. Back in the day, the goal was to paint the best side of every image to create the best ad possible. He used a library of images from magazines, catalogues, newspapers and photos he’d taken to compile an image that would give the reader an idealized, perfected view. Today, Don still uses photography to capture the main image, and then uses other views or images and his mind to imagine a more interesting perspective.
