More about thangkas we're selling.
Images of Enlightenment studio is well-known for its preciseness and following the Buddhist scriptures.
We specialize in the traditional Karma Gadri style of thangka painting under the guidance of Venerable Master Jamyang Phuntsok, an accomplished artist, whose transmission lineage descends to great Masters from Tibet Ven. Thangla Tsewang of the Palpung Monastery, Ven. Nangchen Kadup Nyima and Ven. Thubten Kunsal (Tibet).
We strongly believe that the thangkas are not just a form of art, but they also have a deep secret meaning of Vajrayana Deities. That is why each thangka should be painted with the right motivation, and completed considering 5 prime factors of the Tibetan sacred art, such as preciseness, tradition, expression, clarity and fineness.
Please contact us if you:
- want to place a custom order for a thangka of any tantric deity. Usually it takes 2-5 months (depending on complexity) to finish such a thangka of an average size
- want to place an order of a copy of the old thangka which you would like to have (we can not guarantee that your order will be accepted, however, in most cases we do accept such orders)
- are looking for a unique expensive thangka of the highest quality (please specify which particular deity you're looking for)
May everything be auspicious!
Tibetan Sacred Art
Exquisite Very Fine Red 24K Gold Thangka of Manjusri, the Gentle Glory
Manjusri (from sanskrit "The Gentle Glory") is a meditational deity, and considered a fully enlightened Buddha. He figures extensively in many Esoteric Buddhist texts such as the Manjusri-mula-kalpa and the Manjusrinamasamgiti. His consort in some traditions is Saraswati.
In Tibetan Buddhism, Manjusri manifests in a number of different Tantric forms. Yamantaka (meaning 'terminator of Yama i.e. Death') is the wrathful manifestation of Manjusri, popular within the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Other variations upon his traditional form as Manjusri include Guhya-Manjusri, Guhya-Manjuvajra, and Manjuswari. The two former appearances are generally accompanied by a consort deity embracing the main figure, symbolising union of wisdom and skillful means.
Jamgon Ju Mipham Gyatso, also known as Mipham the Great, was considered to be a human manifestation of Manjushri.
Je Tsongkhapa, who founded the Gelug lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, is said to have received his teachings from visions of Manjusri.
