Description
Krakow, Poland - January 8, 2020: The modern Father Bernatek Footbridge with love padlocks on its railings is a popular walking route between two old Krakow neighborhoods - Kazimierz and Podgórze.
The bridge's railings and its shadows provide visual leading lines into the Podgórze district with its many cafes, bakeries, bars and restaurants.
This part of town is the site of the city’s greatest human tragedy. It was in Podgórze that the Nazi's gathered up the Jewish population and formed the Jewish Ghetto where many of its residents were murdered inside, while others met death in the nearby KL Płaszów concentration camp, or in the gas chambers of Auschwitz and Bełżec.
