Description
My Pop Art series exploit the banal and cliche subjects as fertile medium to reach emotional mindfulness. By multiplying identical subjects such as a fruit, animal or famous place, I intend to subdue mind stimulants that set off active thinking. The time frozen banality is a prerequisite to reverse the direction of observation, in that the artwork (usually the subject) now functions as mirror to help you become the subject of observation as a medium to explore your own inner feelings.
I recommend the following to get the most of my Pop Art: Stay in now and try to visually focus on one specific point for example on any color borders, and then mentally zone out by defocusing your vision to gradually reach a state of gazed mesmerisation. Remember to allow the eyes to undertake the observations for the brain, not the other way around. Shift your gaze throughout the illustrated objects while allowing the mind to blend the colors. Be attentive towards your particular emotional response. By now the submission of mind to emotions should help you transcend into a meditative realm of personal sensuality and human emotions. As meditation requires, try not to give in to mind's attempt to make sense of the compositions, instead remain mindful and allow beams of blended colors to help you reach a state of emotional awareness.
This emotional journey might reiterate the simple but often overlooked realization that our appreciation of rationally identical subjects in part is determined by how we perceive them. As Heraclius put it famously: "Everything changes, nothing remains and you can never step twice in the same river".
