Well, I got invites to participate, last Saturday. Show airs this weekend on various stations:

The "Vax Live: The Concert To Reunite The World" was attended by fully vaccinated spectators only.

Congratulations on all your good news!

Today I received a draft licensing agreement for a company that is going to be licensing half a dozen or so of my images for stationery products. The date has been pushed back, probably until September, due to Covid but it's happening.

I had artworks featured on CBS Sunday Morning on 5/2 and 4/25, and 3 sales on 5/2. For me, that's big news.

I plan on posting on this once a week all the cool art things from the week so here it goes.... This week, nothing. How about you? Last week several cool things were posted by a variety of members!

Well here it goes as far as stuff going on artistically this week, I got an honorable mention in a show called Art Show International Open 2. Also due to the lack of an opening for my show in Sacramento there is a closing reception tomorrow, Saturday, from 2:30-4:00. This is at a gallery called The artistic Edge, located on Fulton Ave in Sacramento. How about you, what is going on artisticly?

Well, congratulations Ronald. We are slowly getting back to normal. We had an Artist get together (maskless) for the first time in well over a year.

I have been invited back (second time) to be the guest on The Artist Lounge a live FaceBook feature. I'll be chatting about my work with the host Jan Jensen. If anyone wants to check it out it's live on Tuesday, May 25 at 7 PM on FaceBook and will be available later on YouTube.

What's new for me Ronald is I just did a marathon printing event, after 1 year of having my printer parked I got it printing again and I printed until late Friday and I just stopped now because I ran out of ink but I have some more coming Monday.

I am gearing up to have about (50) 18 "x 24" framed art works of mine ready to display on my barn exterior wall so vehicle traffic driving by can see my work, I'm doing it all myself framing and all. I'm also going to be listing my prints in various online venues and hope to maybe do some FAA drop shipping of some of my work as well.

I'm a bit exhausted right about now as this is being done in my spare time.

Been prepping for a show in Pomona Ca. I will be showing 35 works, just finished the framing last night. Leave to set up on Sunday, not looking forward to the LA traffic! In any case will be gone for a few days. Also on Saturday I am picking up 14 works from my Sacramento show, much less of an issue since the gallery is only about a half hour from here. Any news from you on the old art front?

Show in Pomona is up and running. My work “Smelling the Flowers” ( which is the work at the top of this thread) is being published in Defunkt Magazine, that is all the art stuff I have this week, you?

It's nice to read about everyone's successes. Nothing really new for me, though I do have a new camera lens that has re-sparked my interest in photography...so we'll see if something new comes of it!

My news for this week is the magazine “ Raw Arts Review” gave my work “The History of Civilization” a honorable mention in their cover art contest. They will publish that work as well as a few others in their winter/ spring issue. Other news was my show in Pomona had a reception for my show although I was unable to attend due to my son’s high school graduation. What is your art news?

News this week: Finished up my Architecture educational graduate program (not a master's degree) today and now I can instructor architecture and civil engineering in Florida for college credit at various universities.

Me, well I'm ready for an art filled weekend I think. I just received some new canvas and inks that I ordered and I want to use up all the canvas in a large outdoor art work I will print myself to add to my outdoor collection.

The collection has been well received by the passing public, from having people yell out of their car windows I LOVE THE ART, THANK YOU and even I LOVE YOU! To people stopping and asking if they can see the art up close, I have even been asked to show my portfolio of work. I'm happy to say I have one and it's some 30 art prints of my original work printed in 13" x 19 " format by me.

I have met more people interested in my art than I could have imagined with my outdoor gallery. It's no longer about me selling my art but about me wanting to make more of my art to display and having it well received.

I am working on a new printing project with canvas which will be a first for me. I can't wait to see how my printer handles it. :-)

Congrats Drew! You also are very consistent my friend! In your travels if you are close to Floral City in central Florida please feel welcomed to stop by and visit!

Tonight for Pride week my son GK and I will both be showing in The Queer Art Show 2021 here in Kansas City. The last two weekends I did open-air art fairs and sold my craftier items, walking sticks, etc.

A Norwegian site called Naturvernforbundet is running a campaign to help gardeners and published my photograph of an American robin eating berries from a bush that is apparently an invasive species. They'll also be adding it to their Facebook and Instagram page on August 5th. This week my art channel on YouTube reached 4000 subscribers which was pretty exciting and I finished a new drawing for a review of some art supplies that Holbein sent me. Now to start on my next piece! I only wish that I was at the point where I could quit my day job and have more time to dedicate to these things!

Ronald, we will be traveling several places this summer. This expedition will be to a cabin in the Appalachia Mountains. It's about a 10 hour drive.

Slow week, studio is up and running after my flood. Headed to Monterey in a couple of hours to take down my show there. That’s it for me, how about you?

I guess I have a little bit of news. Tomorrow I'll be at a swap meet at a car show, mostly to sell diecast model cars but I figured since the swap meet is at a car show I'll take a few automotive paintings, this will be the first time I've taken paintings to a car show.

A little good news from me, first client just signed up for my newsletter. Just gotta write it now!

Packing my car for an outdoor event nearby. Hope it doesn't rain. Met with the Board of Miss. Artists Guild. Attended my painting group.

Not much news this week, drove the 500 mile trek to Pomona to pick up my work and close that show. Went from having three physical gallery shows at once for a total of 90 paintings being shown to zero shows and zero works being shown. Very happy for the slowdown! How about you any art news?

Sorry Ronald, didn't see your comment until now. I sold a sketch at the car show, a lot of nice comments about the paintings but no sales.

Hey a David you did better than I did. Three shows only one painting sold.

Update: Sold three.

Well Ron, it's a lot easier to sell a sketch for $20 than a painting for a few hundred or more. Actually, I had all my paintings for sale for $100 or less at that car show, no takers, but I didn't expect any.

David K, guess that is why I am happy I teach. For about five years I tried to make my living just from my paintings. Learned many things including how to be hungry. The biggest problem I face these days is time. Difficult to juggle life to make the studio time needed. Think I have two more years till I retire, looking forward to that although I do like teaching.

Thanks Ron, went well, focus on figure drawing. I have done a lot of it so plenty of material, techniques, references. Classes twice a week with homework. Between these and commissions, business is building up slowly.

Way to go, Larry and James! To all you teachers, it takes a different skill set for sure and it isn't easy in the slightest. At least it wasn't for me. I tried to teach hand drumming and basically hated it! What I found most difficult is that people can be at so many different levels so how do you teach something that won't be too hard for beginners yet keep those who are more advanced interested?

Ron, Good to see that you are out in the art world. Nice to hear the good news of others also.

I signed up for the annual Sierra Arts Trail show. It’s one of those venues where artists show in their studios, or several artists grouped at different sights. It was cancelled for 2020 like everything, but glad to see something happening again. I will be at Fresno Flats History Museum in Oakhurst with 2 other artists. The event happens the first 2 weekends in October.

This has been a very quiet, crickets chirping in the background, type of week, in other words , no news. How about you?

Sometimes quiet is good! I actually have more news...a couple of days ago somebody posted one of my cat portraits in a Facebook group and it went viral. Today it's at 1.8k "likes" and over 400 shares. I wouldn't have even known if Matthias Hauser hadn't kindly informed me (thanks again, Matthias!) I haven't posted to Instagram in a year or so and I rarely check it but I happened to check it yesterday and saw that over 100 new people started following me.

I haven't made a single sale despite all the excitement though. :-)

Peggy, that is great! One never knows but I would guess the attention would turn to sales before long.

I had a good week - couple of sales, finished my latest commission piece, and have started seeing promotions for the upcoming movie, "The Eyes of Tammy Faye", starring Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield(due out September 17), in which I got to be an extra! Most of my week has been about other things. I was informed three nights ago I was exposed to Covid then yesterday I got a call telling me I had a second exposer. Since I am double vaxed and showing no symptoms I get to continue to teach but it does concern me.

Some of my work was published in the 10th anniversary collector's edition of ZOOM Magazine, Life on the Sunshine Coast. The front and back covers are made up of photographs that had been published on the covers over the years so there are eight of mine on the front and six on the back. There are also articles about the contributing photographers.

My art news this week is that I went up into the mountains today and did some hiking and sketching...that is all.

My big news this week is I sold an original pen sketch. I know, it's kind of boring that the only news I have to share is the occasional sale but I don't seek out gallery representation or enter shows or anything like that.

My work "The Evolution of Time" will be in an online show put on by Las Laguna Art Gallery called "The Forgetting Room, 2021. Any news from any of you?

Another drawing sale. A guy in Washington has really taken to my pen drawings, this is the fourth one he has bought. I also sold a greeting card here.

Tomorrow is kind of a big day for me. I'm attending a big car show that includes a swap meet. I'll be selling diecast model cars in the swap meet but will also have some drawings and paintings available. I'm donating a painting to the car show charity auction as well, in fact I need to get back in the studio and put the finishing touches on it.

David King, Congratulations again! Sounds as if sales are doing well for you!

Tomorrow will be interesting to see how selling my art at a car show goes. I've tried it once before and just sold a sketch but that was a smaller show that didn't really focus on having a swap meet or art. The show tomorrow is highly focused on art and "Kulture" and attendees expect to find art for sale, however I'll be in the swap meet area so that might hinder me a bit. Back from the show and I'm beat. Long but fun day. I did sell a drawing, which is one more piece of art than I expected to sell. My auction piece only sold for $50, there was only one bidder, didn't surprise me, I'm a nobody in the local art world, and that piece probably wasn't quite on target with this crowd, (think Ed Roth monster Rat Fink stuff). On the plus side I did sell a lot of little diecast model cars, a record swap meet day for me.

David my opinion is that you are a very gifted painter, think the person who bid fifty dollars got a steal! Congrats on the drawing sale!

I've had one of those bad news in real life/good news in art kind of weeks. Sales have been very good (ie., on Saturday I sold 13 prints plus a couple of products) and today I signed a three-year contract with Hallmark Cards to use one of my squirrel photographs on greeting cards. They previously had a three-year contract but let it lapse last year.

I don't really have any art news, the closest I've got is I sold some customized diecast model cars at a swap meet today, that can be a bit of an art form.

I just received an email that another of my suns will be on 11/28 as the ender to a last-minute story they're doing on a jailed prisoner who was just freed as an innocent man after 40 years.

AND - are airing an hour-long 10 PM ET primetime special "Forever young: Searching for the Fountain of Youth," tonight 11/28 on CBS. As part of the show, Luke Burbank is doing a piece on Cryogenics. One of my suns will be the ender. Don't know which one though....

I had my gallery on Artnet reinstated - I had suspended it back in the beginning of 2017 when my 350,000 on another site were taken down because I was taking up too much of their server space - the suspension was done with the understanding that I would be able to start it back up again when I was ready - however it seems as if their policy at Artnet has changed and they no longer accept individual artists - so I accepted that for a short while - but then I resisted the urge to be complacent and called again right before my birthday and the death of my younger brother and I was told that it was OK to get my site back up and then the fellow I talked with expressed regret that the powers that be in Germany did not want to go back to having individual artist - however with a bit of negotiation and refusal to be beaten down my site on Artnet has been reinstated -

Thanks. What makes it especially cool is that they were all automotive subjects and three different buyers and only one was made recently. I've been mostly focused on automotive subjects lately so that's encouraging.

Bit of news for me, I was in the top sixty of Artavita’s artist of the year. The biggie here is being in the top three but there were certificates for the top sixty. Also three works of mine are being shown in Climb Online gallery in their Open show. Finally my work “ cooking up Someone” will be published in the next issue of deLuge Literary and Arts Journal. Back at it. Taking the 3 of 5 credits needed to teach all the fine arts classes taught in Florida schools. This will help certify teaching 4 areas. Physics, mathematics, engineering, and fine arts. The goal is to be an advocate for the STEAM pedagogical approach to learning.
The class is called Sculpture 3 but it is a post grad. Independent Study of Metal Casting at UNF.

I don't know if this is news worthy but in exploring new possibilities on this thing called the metaverse I have come out of favor with much of my own art in my gallery here.

So I have deleted more than 50% of the works I had here. I still have much more to cull.

Everything around me seems to be evolving rapidly (the world as I see it), I find that is news worthy.

I two must evolve in my art. I have started that arduous process to be more current in my work so that it reflects more closely my present state.

I have staked my new claim in the OpenSea and will be redefining my current remaining art and creating new art in the hope that it is more reflective of my present state of mind.

My news for the week is that I had to put two of my large outdoor art works to rest, King Kong and Kayapo Woman. The 4Ft x 8Ft art works held up for close to one year before they started to become faded in the outdoor weather. I took then down but now they adorn the sheep barn.

I have replaced the works with three new outdoor works and yesterday a passerby actually stopped her vehicle and came to the house only to tell my son that the works I placed outdoors really inspired here and she just wanted to say thankyou.

The retired art works will be minted into NFT art and they will continue to live on somewhere on the blockchain so all is not lost.

Ronald, that is wonderful for both of you.

This year has started well for me as I won an award for one of my paintings at a local art exhibition and sold three of my images to a designer in Denver.

Every new day and experience seem to enhance my ability to create. It flows out of me naturally and I am grateful!

The ability to express what we want as artists happens in time and each week propels us towards that goal, and it is certainly a gift!

My art news of the week is that I have packed up the last few pieces of my art to get ready for our move back to Maine.

God willing and the creek don’t rise,my plein air paintings later this year will shift from desert scenes to coastal.

VQGAN+CLIP is the acronyms which stands for get this Vector Quantized Generative Adversarial Network and Contrastive Language–Image Pre-training.

It's a mouth full and enough to make me cringe and want to run far away from it.

But in reality it's not that complicated, or it is, but not to use the technology.

I will be the drawing judge for ages 6-18 at the California State Fair this year. The fair has not been held for a couple of years due to the pandemic and they have a new administration of the art expo so I was not expecting to get to do this again. This will be my fifth time although the previous four I judged the painting category. Any news from you?

I was honored to be chosen to be one of three local artists to exhibit for the next three months at a new community welcome center. We get a lot of new people moving to our area of southwest Florida so the center can get a lot of visitors. I can only hope there will be sales.

Hi Ronald, Monday after the show. It was at a place called IWerx in North KC organized by my dealer. It was quite well attended and a lot of fun. Don't know if anything sold but I sold a bird walking stick on the way out of the door.

My work “ After the Kiss” will be published in the next issue of Blue Mesa Review. Any news from you? FYI would have posted this on Friday but was going nuts getting ready for our annual Kids Art Festival, the first since the pandemic! Festival went very well and it was nice to see so many people enjoying themselves!

To go with the virtual, I had a dozen prints made from my ARTWEEKS collection. With perfect timing, they arrived today. The idea is to bind them, or box them, as a real world record for my personal archive. I'll be working on that during the festival and (hopefully) making some other related real world outcomes too. I never know where these things lead, so it is always a surprise to me. Which is fun and a big part of why I continue.

I want to complement the UK print shop, for another excellent print job carefully flat packed and delivered.

My news would be, I have five works in an online show called "Opposition" this is put on by Holy Art, based in London. I have a drawing, "Long Distance Relationship" which will be published in the Wild Roof Journal in September. I am showing my work "Hanging On" at the Blue line Gallery in Roseville, Ca. as part of their membership show. I also just completed the preliminary judging for the drawing division at the California State Fair ages 5-18. I do the prize judging at the fair grounds on June 9th, usually a long day!

Not much in art news this week, I did the at person part of jurying the state fair yesterday. My category was drawing and I gave 1,2,3 and one HM in each division except the ultra young ones. They all get participation ribbons . The categories age wise was 9-12, 13-15, and 16-18. The youngest category was 5-8. In any case based on the work I saw this year both online and then in person, we have survived the pandemic and the future of art looks bright! Only other news I have is school ended this week and I am now on summer, most likely will teach one final year prior to retiring, news from you?

Bit of news over the last couple of weeks. Been busy mostly with yard work. My work “ Kicking what needs to be Kicked” will be published in the Red Ogre Review in July. I have two works accepted into the professional division of the California State Fair, drop off is tomorrow. I received a certificate of excellence from the Circle Foundation for the Arts for their artist of the month competition. Lastly I now have dates for the show I’m doing at Cosumnes River College with two friends. The dates are the show will run from 9/20-11/3 with the opening on 9/23. I will show about 35 works. Any news from you?

Kudos to everyone on their successful endeavors. Personally I have done little photography in the last year. I really need a new camera. This year I bought a laptop that was pricy for me and a car. My new TMobile OnePlus9 5G phone though has 40 pixels. The model is now over a year old, got a good deal on it six months ago. Having a blast taking pictures. Seeing some good images with little distortion.

Not missing my camera so much with resolution up to 40" on the longest side, I have been able to download to my gallery recently. If anyone is interested in seeing this particular phone and how it performs check out the first three images in my gallery or the most recent. I think it is competitive with the most expensive Samsung Gallery phone.

An image of mine of a blue chandelier was recently in an article on the color cobalt blue by a Polish architecture and design magazine. I downloaded it for this thread.

I was down in Ventura with my wife and we were taking a walk down by the harbor with my brother and sister in law, and their dog. Anyway we saw a very cute cat Hanging out outside of some shop. We were petting the cat and the owner of the shop popped out to say hi. I realized it was an art gallery so we went in to check it out. Liked the gallery and the art being carried so I told her how to find my work online. We continued our walk and about ten minutes latter I got a call from her offering to have my work in her upcoming Halloween show. Now it has progressed and I will be showing about 15 works there for a couple of months starting in October. Just goes to show you one can never tell what might happen! News from you?

My husband and I went on a vacation a few weeks back for our twentieth anniversary and decided to visit a few small galleries in Orange Beach and Dauphin Island, Alabama. Both are vacation spots with many tourists, especially Orange Beach. Anyhow, both gallery owners were familiar with my work and wanted me to bring work back to their galleries. Last week I brought originals and prints to them. So now I am in Alabama at Dauphin Island Gallery and in Orange Beach at The Prosperous Pelican Gallery.

They are both smallish galleries but in great locations. here is hoping. :)

I just heard from the company that is licensing my images for diamond art paintings. They have chosen two more, so now I'm up to 12 images they're licensing, all in various stages of production or being shipped. The first one they licensed will hit the shelves this week and the second one within a couple of weeks.

Thanks guys! Yesteray I received a sample of one of art kits hot off the presses. I was surprised by the size - t's huge at 38.6" x 26.6", and I'm very impressed by the stury packaging. I live in a very small house so I don't know if I'll be able to find the room to do the kit myself but I'd like to try it since I've never done diamond art before. They include all the tools you need in the kit.

I have five works accepted in the Holy Art Gallerie's Best American Artists, 2022 exhibit. I have one work in the show MAGIX 2022 , My work The Era of the End got an Honorable Mention in Art Show International Open Show. Finally My work, "The Mad Rush" is being published and exhibited in People International Smart Online Group Exhibition and the Book of Arts Publication.

So, I got word yesterday that 3 more of my Sun artworks will be on CBS Sunday Morning today (11/27/2022).

I am always thrilled to get these notices. Always an honor.

One after their "In Memoriam" segment.
And another after their piece on gun violence.

These notices are rarely any more explanatory than that, so I don't know which ones they are yet. ;-)

I have work being published in Touchstone Literary Magazine as well as Artistonish Magazine. I also was awarded an Artistic Excellence Award from Circle Foundation for the Arts. Finally I was Awarded an "Artist of the Year" Certificate from Artavita....Sounds a bit better than it really is, there were sixty artist given this award, somewhere over 400 participated still I would rather win this than not. It's timing is interesting being that Ai is becoming a hot topic here on FAA. Although this story is about Ai composing text for you, it very well applies to art and the discussions here.

Congrats David! Auto checkers in stores are here to stay same with AI. How that impacts the individual depends on that person and what they do.

The ethics of how it's used is what's bubbling to the top in this story. In text, as in art, and everything else that can be accomplished (replaced) by Ai, will be weeding out the cheaters. (so-to-speak)

My work, “Era of the End” will be in a show called “ Real or not so Real” which is at the Escondido Arts Partnership in Escondido,Ca. I was given a certificate of Artistic Achievement from the Luxembourg Art Prize. My work “Captive Audience” will be published in the next issue of Untenured Magazine. My work The Thread will be published in May by “Under the Sun Literary Magazine” finally a non art thing, went to Stockton last night and saw Jerry Seinfeld. FYI he was great!
