Images - Sizes And Dimensions

This will go in the Help topic https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=4839599

FILE SIZE

Normally you would load jpg. Then you may customise each product.

You may like a transparent background on your image (note products themselves do not have transparent background, we are only talking about your image background).

PNG images have the transparent background but obviously you cannot have transparency as a preview image so when you load it you must save that PNG for the top image (prints) to a JPG. (It will ask you to do that on upload and do it for you)

Or you can edit a normal image and can then scroll down the page and customise the other products with your transparent image

To create a PNG you remove the background in your photo editor. You then EXPORT the image retaining transparency. You cannot do this on a mobile device.

The colour space needs to be aRGB or sRGB

File size no larger than 25mb.
Flattening as a jpg will bring your size down.
Compress image by 2 points to 10....
Keeping to the dimensions should make a size no larger than 25mb

Your image will print well even under 25mb. All the images here are under that and printing is beautiful IF your image is clear and of good quality (see under Quality below)

IMPORTANT NOTE

DPI and PPI mean nothing. You do not need to worry about DPI or PPI at all. You are not looking to change those, or even use those

QUALITY

Before you upload your image you MUST go around that image at 100% view in a photo editor to make sure it is of top quality printability

If you sell an image we will refuse to print if the image shows.......

Pixellation
Blockiness
Noise
Bad cropping
Blurriness not in keeping with the image (ie not meant to be there)
normal font signature (Arial, Times New Roman etc)
signature cropped half off the image
large watermarks
noticeable camera flash
Upsized images

We do not do quality control until you sell so, it is your responsibility to quality control your images carefully before uploading.

Read this thread for original art copying techniques https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2764654

IMAGE DIMENSIONS

You need to load the best quality, largest image you have. No watermarks, and only unobtrusive signatures.

We print to YOUR dimensions

Here is a great thread on the forum that explains it all quite well https://pixels.com/showmessages.php?messageid=5174095

I will add some of it here also....

The image size will depend on the pixels size of the image you took or created, less any cropping you have done. We then create the prints that will fit that size and smaller, if you have priced them.

When you upload an image, our software takes the longer dimension and fits it to the following sizes:

8 inches x (xx)
10 inches x (xx)
12 inches x (xx)
14 inches x (xx)
16 inches x (xx)
20 inches x (xx)
etc...

The smaller dimension (xx) is then scaled proportionally to maintain the aspect ratio of your image.

Our largest print available is 108" x 48" so the largest you need add would be 10800 x 4800 pixels, but only if you have that size naturally, which photographers normally do not.

When uploading, you can say you want standard sizing but they will be cropped if you do that, centrally. Unfortunately, you can't make your images fit into standard sizes without cropping the images.

NEVER ENLARGE / UPSIZE YOUR IMAGES

If you do not have the right size for something, do not add a markup for it. Again, this is your responsibility. The site does not check your image quality so even if it shows you how large an image is, it can not see if that quality is good enough. Do not add a zero, nor even a space. Just ignore that markup box

TEMPLATES

Templates are for creating sized images to fit on the products
If your images do not work well as-is when you load them, you can create customised images ready to add to the work

1. Create the customised image in your editor by opening the template and in a new layer working out where you want your image. Or create a tile effect in the editor, etc.
When happy with the size, hide the template layer and save your manipulated image (if you want transparency, see PNG above under file types)
2. Upload or edit your main print image
3. Scroll down to the product areas
4. See Customise and Image
5. Click image to load your customised image shaped for the product
6. SUBMIT
