These two sisters are staying warm and cozy in their charming new coats as they walk to school in the cool, crisp days of Autumn. Inspirational folkart by Janelle Nichol. This piece is about 2 sisters who are on their way to school on a crisp Fall morning. I wanted to make sure I conveyed an Autumn atmosphere so I included brightly colored leaves and I also like putting some abstract elements in my pieces as well so they are also throughout the piece.
Janelle's artwork is very engaging at many levels. Usually in human contact we notice faces first and then the eyes of someone. Yet in Janelle's art we see neither. It is up to our imagination as to what might be going on. Yet we are not left with just blind imagination, for we see the human figure pondering many beautiful things around her, thus, it seems to me that we also are invited to ponder the strange glory in ordinary things.
